This topic deserves no explanation, but it may merit some discussion. Oh, the ways in which the characters essentially use each other in order to obtain what they crave. The ways in which Maxine, Lotte, and Craig treat each other—not to mention John Malkovich—are seemingly heartless, but there is much ardor in one’s longing for the other in their strange triangle of love, as there is much passion in the ruthless choices they make. Nevertheless, the should’s are never addressed when the portal into John Malkovich is discovered and explored.
